This is the favored weight-loss surgery in the United States because it has shown relatively good long-term results. In gastric bypass (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass), the surgeon creates a small pouch at the top of your stomach. The small intestine is then cut a short distance below the main stomach and connected to the new pouch.

Diabetes Management and Treatment in Kerala

Diabetes mellitus is a condition that occurs when the body can't use glucose normally. Glucose is the main source of energy for the body's cells. The levels of glucose in the blood are controlled by a hormone called insulin, which is made by the pancreas. Insulin helps glucose enter the cells.
In diabetes, the pancreas does not make enough insulin (type 1 diabetes) or the body can't respond normally to the insulin that is made (type 2 diabetes). This causes glucose levels in the blood to rise, leading to symptoms such as increased urination, extreme thirst, and unexplained weight loss.

 Symptoms

  • Increased urine output
  • Thirst
  • Weight loss
  • Weakness

Causes and Types
As glucose accumulates in the blood, excess levels of this sugar are excreted in the urine. Because of greater amounts of glucose in the urine, more water is excreted with it, causing an increase in urinary volume and frequency of urination as well as thirst.

Type I diabetes is usually caused by autoimmune destruction of the islets of Langerhans of the pancreas. Patients with type I diabetes have serum antibodies to several components of the islets of Langerhans, including antibodies to insulin itself.
Type II diabetes are asymptomatic. In some patients the presence of one or more symptoms associated with the long-term complications of diabetes leads to a diagnosis of type II diabetes.  Type II diabetes is strongly associated with obesity and is a result of insulin resistance and insulin deficiency.

Gestational diabetes is a temporary condition associated with pregnancy. In this situation, blood glucose levels increase during pregnancy but usually return to normal after delivery.

Treatments to Get Rid of Varicose Vein in India

Varicose veins are swollen, twisted, painful veins that have filled with blood. They usually develop in the legs. Your doctor may be able to treat them in noninvasive ways instead of vein stripping, the traditional surgery for this problem.

Causes of Varicose Veins:
Varicose veins can be caused by weak or damaged valves in the veins. The heart pumps blood filled with oxygen and nutrients to the whole body through the arteries. Veins then carry the blood from the body back to the heart. As your leg muscles squeeze, they push blood back to the heart from your lower body against the flow of gravity. Veins have valves that act as one-way flaps to prevent blood from flowing backwards as it moves up your legs. If the valves become weak, blood can leak back into the veins and collect there. (This problem is called venous insufficiency.) When backed-up blood makes the veins bigger, they can become varicose.

What are the signs of varicose veins
?
Varicose veins can often be seen on the skin. Some other common symptoms of varicose veins in the legs include:

  •     Aching pain that may get worse after sitting or standing for a long time
  •     Throbbing or cramping
  •     Heaviness
  •     Swelling
  •     Rash that’s itchy or irritated
  •     Darkening of the skin (in severe cases)
  •     Restless leg
Varicose vein Treatemnt includes:
Compression Stockings
Compression stockings put helpful pressure on your veins.
There are 3 kinds of compression stockings:
  • Support pantyhose, which offer the least amount of pressure.
  • Over-the-counter gradient compression hose, which give a little more pressure. They are sold in medical supply and drugstores.
  • Prescription-strength gradient compression hose, which offer the greatest amount of pressure. They are sold in medical supply and drugstores.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy (SKLER-o-ther-a-pee) is the most common treatment for both spider veins and varicose veins. The doctor uses a needle to inject a liquid chemical into the vein.

Surface Laser Treatments

PIN stripping
In this treatment, an instrument called a PIN stripper is inserted into a vein. The tip of the PIN stripper is sewn to the end of the vein, and when it is removed, the vein is pulled out. This procedure can be done in an operating room or an outpatient center. General or local anesthesia can be used.
